Once part of a massive estate located at 1245 Grand Avenue, the Grand Dame of the Arroyo, 'Mi Sueno' (My Dream) was built by architect Bertram Grovesnor Goodhue in 1916. In 1950, the estate was split into three residences, one of which is 695 Columbia Street, 'Mi Sueno Del Sur' (My Dream of the South). This significant property offers living on a grand scale. A romantic walled and gated entrance offers a glimpse of the bucolic gardens within. A row of olive trees and a reflecting pool lead to the front door, a huge affair of ornate metal and glass opening onto a domed and elaborately hand-painted loggia. The great hall is anchored by a carved stone fireplace at one end; at the other a library wall that lines the stairway to the bedroom suites. Off of the kitchen is a step down family room with fireplace, the overlooking loft ideal for an office or sleeping quarters for guests. French doors open onto the surrounding grounds offering a multitude of entertaining spaces, gardens, and lawns.
